Architecture in video games

I’ve been always impressed by the opened worlds in games. The architecture of them just takes you to a whole new world.

We can start talking of The Sims. In older versions of this game there was an open world with some loading screens when you were about to enter a new building or something, but what really amazes me is the way you could create your own house from scratch. Obviously, the game allows you to just place a wall without needing any foundation, but even though it’s very simple, it gave you the feeling that you could build anything you wanted.

We have to mention open worlds too. The best examples are GTA V and Cyberpunk 2077 (I’ve played both of them). It’s a massive world full of buildings and streets. The game only loads the terrain around the player in order not to collapse and preventing from having loading screens when moving from one area to another. Lights and shadows are very important and developed.

Another of my favourite games is Assassins Creed Unity, because it reconstructs Paris in 1789. The interiors and exteriors of the building allow you to see how was the life there and it’s very detailed and realistic.
